Finnish Graduate School of Oral Sciences (FINSOS)
A new national graduate school, Finnish Graduate School of Oral Sciences (FINSOS), will start January 1st, 2010. FINSOS will bring together preclinical and clinical researchers nationwide with a common interest in oral sciences. FINSOS is a functional network between the research groups at the four dental schools (Helsinki, Kuopio, Oulu and Turku) and the research groups in oral sciencies at the Institute of Biotechnology, at the University of Helsinki, the Regea Institute for Regenerative Medicine, University of Tampere as well as national and international partners like National Institute of Health and Welfare and the Swedish Graduate School in Odontological Sciences. For the first four-year period, FINSOS is coordinated from the University of Turku.
The goal of the school is to provide the students with an excellent PhD training program and support during the education. After four years of fulltime studies, the students will graduate with a doctoral degree. FINSOS organises e.g. summer schools and annual meetings for the students and supervisors. Both national and international networking is encouraged. All PhD students have also a possibility to join a laboratory of another research group for a shorter period by laboratory rotations organised by FINSOS. The ambition of the FINSOS network is to benefit also post-docs and already established researchers.
The first students will start on January 1st 2010.
